An uninterruptible power supply for supplying power to a load is disclosed. The uninterruptible power supply includes at least two direct current (DC) power supplies, an alternating current (AC) power supply, and a switching arrangement which includes relay circuits for coupling the DC and AC power supplies to the load. The switching arrangement, which may be in the form of a programmable microcontroller and which may be characterized by a hybrid transfer switch, may further include a comparator circuit. The comparator circuit is arranged to receive a reference voltage signal, sense an input voltage signal from any one of the DC and AC power supplies actively coupled to the load, determine a voltage difference between the reference voltage signal and the input voltage signal, and generate a control signal for selectively causing a change in state of each of the relay circuits based on the determined voltage difference. |
