PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydrolysis of mannose-1-phospho-6-mannose linkage into phospho-6-mannose.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein are a method and a genetically engineered cell useful for uncapping the mannose-6-phosphate residue on an oligosaccharide by using a mannosidase that hydrolyzes the mannose-1-phospho-6-mannose linkage to a phospho-6-mannose. One method for uncapping the mannose-6-phosphate residue on an oligosaccharide comprises the steps of: a) providing an oligosaccharide having a mannose-1-phospho-6-mannose linkage; b) contacting the oligosaccharide with a mannosidase capable of hydrolyzing the mannose-1-phospho-6-mannose linkage into phospho-6-mannose.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
