Provided is a sintered zinc sulfide material which has a high permeability of infrared ray having a wavelength of 8 to 14 µm inclusive. The present invention is a sintered zinc sulfide material which is produced by sintering a zinc sulfide raw material powder, and which has such a property that, when the sintered zinc sulfide material has a thickness of 3 mm and each of opposed both surfaces of the sintered zinc sulfide material has a center line average roughness (Ra) of 20 nm or less, the the sintered zinc sulfide material has a permeability of infrared ray that enters through one surface of the sintered zinc sulfide material and exits through the other surface of the sintered zinc sulfide material and that has a wavelength of 11.5 to 12.5 µm inclusive of 50% or more. |
