[Also in Groups IX, XXIII and XXIV] The friction drive for a metal-planing machine, as described in the parent Specification and in which a brake is applied to the driven wheel and the driving motor is switched off when a control lever is moved to disengage the driven and driving wheels against weight- or spring-loading, is described and illustrated as applied to a milling machine, a lathe and a loom and it is stated that it may be applied to wood-working, paper-making, container-filling and other machines. The embodiments described are similar to those of the parent Specification except that, in the lathe, the control lever controls a pair of cams, one for the motor support and the other for the brake. |
