[Class 110(i)] The stages 20 of a centrifugal pump are enclosed by an outer casing 11 as described in parent Specification. The fluid is drawn into the pump from the inlet branch 13 through the space 19 around the stator parts 10. The discharge is through a passage in a branch parallel to the branch 13 and both branches are integral with a casing end piece 12. The stator parts are bolted together and to the end piece 12 and a baffle piece 22 by staggered sets of bolts such as 16, 17. The axial thrust of the impellers is taken between the opposed surfaces of parts 27, 30 separated by a cushion of fluid which leaks between the bushes 28, 29. This fluid enters a chamber 25 and returns to the pump inlet. through a bore 26.
