The present invention provides a passenger conveyor which prevents simultaneous brake action of a main brake and a main shaft braking device without specific control even when power failure occurs, thereby preventing sudden stop of step row. In the passenger conveyor, a ratchet (12) is provided with an arc-shaped stopping rail (20) which extends along a notch part (17) and the end is next to the side of a clamping part (18). The stopping rail (20) stops clamping of the clamping part (18) on the end of a rod (22) when braking action of the main brake (8) starts, and furthermore the stopping rail stops abutting of the end part of the rod (22) on the outer circumferential end surface of the notch part (17). |
