PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability by stopping a piston of a cylinder executing an initial explosion in starting, at a proper position, in a constitution to start an internal combustion engine by combustion in the cylinder.SOLUTION: An engine 10 includes an actuator 40 capable of driving a crank shaft 16. An ECU 60 selects a controlled cylinder as a cylinder stopped in a compressing stroke on the basis of a cylinder internal pressure, when the engine 10 is stopped. When the cylinder internal pressure of the controlled cylinder is lowered to be a determination pressure Pa or less, a piston 12 of the controlled cylinder is moved to a proper initial explosion stop position suitable for initial explosion in starting by the actuator 40. Thus a stop position of the piston 12 can be correctly controlled in comparison with a case when the piston 12 of the cylinder stopped in an expansion stroke is moved. Further as the actuator 40 is driven in a low pressure state, its driving energy can be suppressed. |
