A valve assembly (420) for a bicycle suspension system includes a housing (421), a rotary valve (422) disposed within the housing (421), and a rotational electro mechanical actuator (424) disposed within the housing (421). The housing (421) is configured to house shock absorber fluid. The rotational electro mechanical actuator (424) is disposed in operable communication with the rotary valve (422). The housing (421), the rotary valve (422) and the rotational electro mechanical actuator (424) define a plurality of fluid flow passages internal to the housing. The rotary valve (422) and the rotational electro mechanical actuator (424) are each subject to contact with or immersion in the shock absorber fluid in the housing (421) when present.
