[Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A resilient mounting between the outer race 13 of a ball or roller bearing 14, or a sleeve bearing, and the inner surface of a housing 1 comprises a thin strip of springy metal 1 having rims of circular shape, and the portion intermediate the rims of substantially polygonal configuration so as to exert radial pressure between the race 13 and housing 1. Regularlyspaced transverse slots may be provided in the strip to enable it to assume the substantially polygonal configuration when bent. Flanges may be formed at the sides. As shown, the width of the packing-member 1 is made greater than the width of the sleeve member , so as to accommodate a pre-loading spring 5 which may be any of the types described in Specification 627,260. |
