Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device and a method, which can increase efficiency of the use of resources within a communications system and stability of a service provided in the electronic device. The method includes the operations of: providing a first service in response to a service request in a first electronic device; checking at least one function related to the first service, available in a second electronic device outside the first electronic device; and providing a second service related to the service request based on the at least one function.
