The present invention relates to a therapeutic and pharmaceutical composition or food composition having an antiallergic function, containing a balloon flower root extract which is bioconverted via fermentation by microbe (mycelium of basidiomycetes) and enzyme treatment. The balloon flower root extract which is bioconverted via fermentation by mycelium of basidiomycetes and enzyme treatment contains a larger amount of antiallergic substances than unfermented balloon flower root, thereby exhibiting effects of reducing allergic reactions when processed into food products by using the extract.
