PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of easily executing the position detection of an external obstacle, and increasing the identifying accuracy of the external obstacle.SOLUTION: A projector 100 includes: a light source for outputting a laser beam; scanning means (a scanner mirror 372) for scanning the laser beam; a beam splitter 383 for dividing the laser beam scanned by the scanning means into the laser beam in a first direction and the laser beam in a second direction; a light reception sensor 400 for detecting the laser beam reflected by an external obstacle existing in the region of the laser beam emitted to a projection surface in the first direction; and calculation means (a calculation program 344e) for calculating the position of the external obstacle in accordance with a scanning position by the scanning means and the light reception timing of the light reception sensor 400. The laser beam in the first direction is characterized such that a first laser beam divided by the beam splitter 383 and a second laser beam not through the beam splitter 383 are emitted. |
