The invention provides a stopping device and an elevator provided therewith. The stopping deice is adapted to speed governors without steel wire ropes and can reliably drive a brake to operate without the need of an actuator with a large driving force. The stopping device comprises a wedge plate, a pressing body, a sliding part and a braking part. The wedge plate is arranged on a lifting body capable of moving up and down along a guide rail and the wedge plate is capable of moving upwards relative to the lifting body along the guide rail. The pressing body is used for pressing the wedge plate onto the guide rail and is fixed onto the lifting body. The sliding part is freely driven relative to the lifting body in a direction parallel to the guide rail. The braking part is arranged on the sliding part. During the braking process, the guide rail is clamped by the braking part to generate the frictional force. A connecting part connects the wedge plate with the sliding part. |
