The cooking device (1) i.e. hearth (2), has a door (5) closing a cooking chamber (17), and a control panel (6) provided with operating elements (9, 10) for controlling the cooking device. The control panel includes an upper area for controlling a cooking field (3) and a lower area for controlling a baking oven (4). The lower area is pivotably supported around an axis that lies in an upper section of the lower area, and a motor i.e. synchronous motor, is attached to the lower area for pivoting the lower area. A gear box is arranged between the motor and the lower area. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooking device. |
