A method and apparatus for detecting connectivity of a label switched path. The method applied to a source end comprises: sending a service packet or a first virtual service packet by a source end, detecting the frequency of the service packet or the first virtual service packet, comparing the detection result with an OAM detection frequency, and constructing a second virtual service packet when the result obtained by comparison is that the frequency of the service packet or the first virtual service packet is less than the OAM detection frequency; and sending the service packet, the first virtual service packet or the second virtual service packet to a sink end, and detecting the frequency of the received service packet, the received first virtual service packet or the received second virtual service packet by the sink end, so as to determine connectivity of a path. In the technical scheme, connectivity of the path is determined by detecting the service packet, the first virtual service packet or the second virtual service packet, and the loss of the effective bandwidth of a service due to insertion of an OAM detection packet is reduced, and accordingly, the use of the effective bandwidth is maximized. |
