Provided are an IP address allocation method, a coaxial cable intermediate converter and a system. The method comprises: configuring an IP port on a CMC, binding a CM and a CPE which have an identical service under the IP port, and configuring for the IP port a CM DHCP server and a CPE DHCP server which are used for CM IP address allocation and CPE IP address allocation respectively; the CMC receiving a DHCP discovery packet sent from the CM under the IP port, judging whether the DHCP discovery packet is initiated by the CM, and if so, sending the DHCP discovery packet to the CM DHCP server, and the CM DHCP server allocating an IP address to the coaxial modem according to the received DHCP discovery packet; and if not, the DHCP discovery packet being initiated by the CPE, sending the DHCP discovery packet to the CPE DHCP server, and the CPE DHCP server allocating an IP address to the CPE according to the received DHCP discovery packet. |
