A building board or sheet is composed of a mixture of calcined diatomaceous earth or uncalcined decarbonized diatomaceous earth and cement felted with asbestos and vegetable fibres such as flax fibres. The asbestos is preferably present as 8-9 per cent of the mix, the flax as 5 per cent, the diatomaceous earth as 34-37 per cent, and the cement as 50-52 per cent.
