PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data archive system capable of improving service to a user, for example, during offline storage by enabling new data storage in a buffer and data read from another library device even when the power supply of a library device is turned off.SOLUTION: In a data archive system 1, a library device 2 comprises a plurality of optical disk drives and a cartridge 5 housing a plurality of optical disks 6. A server 3 stores the entered data in a buffer 4, transmits the data to the library device 2 and records it on an optical disk 6, and controls the library device 2 so as to reproduce the data from the optical disk 6. In a first control state (partial stop), the server 3 stores the entered data in the buffer 4 and controls the library device 2 in operation to reproduce the data from the optical disk 6 even when at least one of the library devices 2 is stopped.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
