PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for preventing a failure caused by the exposure of a transmission mechanism to the outside of a frame.SOLUTION: A color printer 1 includes rail members 41F and 41R which are attached to frames 40F and 40R and an intermediate transfer device 42 which is attachably/detachably supported by the rail members 41F and 41R. The intermediate transfer device 42 includes an intermediate transfer belt 71 which is rotationally driven by a driving motor 62 and carries a toner image, a cleaning roller 76 which is rotationally driven by the driving motor 62 and removes toner remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 71, a first transmission mechanism 63 which transmits the driving force of the driving motor 62 to the intermediate transfer belt 71, and a second transmission mechanism 64 which transmits the driving force of the driving motor 62 to the cleaning roller 76.
