Provided are a composition for enhancing immunity, containing a milk protein with a high content of organic copper or organic iron as an active ingredient, and a method for preparing the same. The milk protein with a high content of organic copper or organic iron prepared by mixing mixed powder, which is prepared by mixing whey powder and water-soluble copper or iron powder, with water and then heating the same, increases the bioavailability of minerals. In addition, the composition has immune enhancing activities by: increasing the number of immune cells such as macrophages, neutrophils, monocytes, etc., which primarily defend against pathogenic microorganisms, and natural killer (NK) cells in the blood; increasing the number of CD4 positive helper T cells (T_H cells) and CD8 positive cytotoxic T cells (T_C cells) in lymph nodes; and increasing the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), the immune-related cytokines secreted from activated macrophages, when the composition is orally administrated, thereby being able to be used as an active ingredient of a food composition or a pharmaceutical composition for enhancing immunity. |
