The present invention relates to a backlight unit having a board for uniform brightness, wherein the backlight unit comprises: a board including a projected part and a recessed part; a first group of multiple light emitting diodes arranged in the recessed part; and a second group of multiple light emitting diodes arranged in the projected part, wherein the most adjacent light emitting diode to each light emitting diode included in the first group can be included in the second group. Accordingly, when the backlight unit is used with a liquid crystal display panel including a diffusion plate or a light guide plate, the distance between the light emitting diodes included in the first group and the diffusion plate or the light guide plate increases, thereby reducing a hot spot phenomenon. In addition, an area of light received by the diffusion plate or the light guide plate from the light emitting diodes included in the first group increases, and an area of light received by the diffusion plate or the light guide plate from the light emitting diodes included in the second group that are alternately arranged is relatively small. Thus, on the surface of the diffusion plate or the light guide plate which receives light, a ratio of relatively dark region (M) to the surface decreases, and an area on which light emitted from adjacent light emitting diodes overlaps each other increases. Therefore, the brightness of light emitted from the backlight unit can be uniform on the entire are of the light receiving surface of the diffusion plate or the light guide plate. Additionally, since there is no need to lean the board in order to mount light emitting diodes thereon in the SMT process, a process can be simplified and a defect such as distortion of a board can be minimized. |
