CULTURE MEDIUM ALLOWING THE GROWTH OF THE BACTERIUM PISCIRICKETTSIA SALMONIS

The invention relates to a novel cell-free liquid culture medium which allows the growth of the bacterium Piscirickettsia salmonis in a minimum period of time, by means of the nutritional supply of defined minimum components with concentrations adjusted to the demand therefor, allowing a previously unachieved maximum concentration of biomass with a high yield to be obtained. The bacterial phenotype obtained in the defined cell-free medium preserves the levels of virulence observed in traditional culture systems. This technology therefore supports the development of a novel process which is faster and more economical than the current systems, generating a product of equal or better quality, in order to obtain a biomass required for both oral and injectable vaccine formulations.
