PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem that it is hard to set the maximum engine speed suitable for a running load.SOLUTION: A controller 10 takes a limit state from any one of modes A to C of different characteristics. The controller changes the mode into the mode B if an operating state in which a speed ratio of 1 or more calculated at the mode A is equal to or more than e1 and less than e2 continues for a prescribed time or longer, changes the mode into the mode C if an operation state in which the speed ratio calculated at the mode B is equal to or more than e1 and less than e2 continues for the prescribed time or longer, and changes the mode into the mode A if an operation state in which the speed ratio calculated at the mode C is equal to or more than e4 continues for the prescribed time or longer. Under the operation state in which the calculated speed ratio is equal to or more than e1 and less than e2, R3 that is the maximum speed at the mode B is larger than R4 that is the maximum speed at the mode A, and R2 that is the maximum speed at the mode C is larger than R3 that is the maximum speed at the mode B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
