PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic element capable of achieving both photoelectric conversion efficiency and durability at a high level by searching a novel compound suitable for an electron extraction layer and using the compound.SOLUTION: A photovoltaic element comprises at least a positive electrode 2, a photoelectric conversion layer 3, an electron extraction layer 4 and a negative electrode 5 in this order. The photovoltaic element contains, in the electron extraction layer, a compound having a structure in which three or more nitrogen atoms included in a nitrogen-containing six-membered aromatic ring can adopt a spatial arrangement capable of donating an electron pair with respect to the same negative electrode metal, that is, a metal atom of the same type of metal constituting the negative electrode, or ions thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
