PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device which is configured to allow changing a distance from a user to a generated virtual image and can generate a clear virtual image without increasing in size, complexity, and cost of the device.SOLUTION: A virtual image display device generates a virtual image 8 of an image to be visually recognized by an occupant 7 of a vehicle by projecting the image output from a projector 4 onto a screen 5, and causing the image projected onto the screen 5 to be reflected onto a windscreen 6 of the vehicle 2 and visually recognized by the occupant 7 of the vehicle. The device is configured such that a light path length X of a light path 22 from the screen 5 to a concave mirror 14 can be changed by moving a first mirror 11 and a second mirror 12 along the light path 22, and that the change in the optical length X causes change in a distance from the occupant 7 to the virtual image 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
