The present invention is a terminal controlling device having a mode control module for switching an execution mode of a terminal, the terminal controlling device comprising: a main control module for controlling the driving of a terminal; a receiver sensor installed on the terminal for generating a voltage by means of external force applied from the outside of the terminal; and a signal processing unit for analyzing the voltage value generated in the receiver sensor, processing the voltage value as a signal switching the mode of the terminal, and transmitting the mode switching signal to the main control module. According to the embodiments of the present invention, a user may easily switch the mode of a terminal by means of a simple movement of applying external force, i.e., knocking on the window of the terminal. Further, the receiver sensor is used as a sensor for switching the mode of a terminal by means of external force, thereby enabling the more accurate switching of the mode of a terminal compared to existing devices, and the switching of a mode or the maintaining of an on-state of a display module when a user unintentionally applies external force may be prevented, thereby reducing the malfunctioning of a terminal and protecting personal information of a user.
