The present invention addresses the problem of reducing the inconvenience that is brought about when the electric power consumed from a commercial power source exceeds a prescribed threshold value. In order to solve said problem, the present invention provides an electric power management device (1) that has: a load monitoring unit (10) that specifies in advance the timing at which the electric power consumption of a prescribed load (3) that exists on a unit electric power network (100) will exceed a prescribed value; and a power storage system control unit (20) that controls a power storage system (2) that supplies electric power to the unit electric power network (100), and that causes electric power supply to begin a prescribed amount of time before the abovementioned timing.
