PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method that can form an original image larger than the maximum size of the sizes of recording sheets on which images can be formed, on a recording sheet of a size larger than the maximum size.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a double-sided image forming part 4 that can form images on first and second recording faces P 21 and P22 of a recording sheet; a double-sided image reading part 2 that acquires a pair of divided images G1 and G2 forming an original image; and an image formation control part 72 that supplies a folded recording sheet P2 folded in half to the double-sided image forming part 4 and causes the double-sided image forming part 4 to execute processing of forming each of the pair of divided images G1 and G2 on the first and second recording faces P21 and P22 of the folded recording sheet P2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
