PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolator capable of improving durability of laminate by assuring adhesive property between coating rubber layer and a mounting plate and provide a process of manufacture of the seismic isolator.SOLUTION: A seismic isolator 10 comprises a laminate 12 in which a plurality of hard plates 12B and soft plates 12A are alternatively laminated; fixing plates 14A, 14B fixed to both end surfaces of the laminate 12; a coating rubber layer 18 covering an outer peripheral surface of the laminate 12 and formed with expanded diameter part 20 and fixed to the fixing plates 14A, 14B at both ends; and a protection part 22 for protecting an outer peripheral surface 20A of the expanded diameter part 20. In addition, the process of manufacture of the seismic isolator 10 is carried out in such a way that the fixing plates 14A, 14B, the laminate 12, the coating rubber layer 18 and the protection part 22 are vulcanized and integrally assembled, thereafter burrs formed around the protection part 22 are cut off by a cutting tool.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
