1. A method of anchoring a stent in a body lumen, comprising:
advancing an expandable stent through a body lumen to a treatment site in a compressed state, the expandable stent including one or more interwoven filaments forming a tubular structure having an outer surface and an inner surface; expanding the expandable stent in the body lumen at the treatment site to an expanded state; thereafter, advancing an anchoring element through the body lumen to the treatment site; and anchoring the expandable stent at the treatment site with the anchoring element by weaving the anchoring element into and out of the tubular structure with the anchoring element engaging the body lumen.
