METHOD FOR FORMING CRIMPED PARTS IN CONTINUOUS BODY OF WEB MEMBER HAVING FIBER BUNDLES, AND FORMATION DEVICE

A method wherein a continuous body of a web member that has fiber bundles that are aligned with and continuous in a prescribed direction is transported in a transport direction that is the prescribed direction and crimped parts are formed in the web member continuous body at intervals in the transport direction. The method includes: transporting the web member continuous body such that the transport direction is the rotation direction of a rotation body by holding the web member continuous body at an outer circumferential surface of the rotation body while the rotation body rotates around a rotational axis that runs along a CD direction that intersects the transport direction; forming the crimped parts when crimped part formation target sections of the web member continuous body pass the position of a crimping member that is arranged at a prescribed position in the rotation direction by sandwiching and pressing the formation target sections between the rotation body and the crimping member; and using a pressing member that is arranged in a position that is further to an upstream side in the rotation direction than the crimping member and that is arranged so as to face the outer circumferential surface of the rotation body to press the web member continuous body toward the inside in the radial direction of rotation of the rotation body without forming crimped parts in the web member continuous body.
