The invention relates to a method for controlling the separating action of a separator device for separating a product mixture into a fine material fraction and a coarse material fraction. The separator device comprises a material inlet, a coarse material outlet and a fine material outlet, as well as a classifier device which has a classifier rotor for separating said product mixture. The product mixture is pumped by means of an external pump into said separator device via the material inlet.
