A method using Received Signal Strength (RSS) for geolocation of a moving emitter/ receiver (1). Traditionally RSS is not an accurate method of geolocation, since attenuation, shadowing and reflection of the signal due to the physical environment make detection of an emitter/receiver's geolocation very difficult since the RSS often indicates many possible locations for the emitter/receiver. The invention improves the accuracy of geolocation using RSS by applying an Emitter Movement Model (EMM). The EMM indicates the possible or likely movement characteristics of the emitter/receiver and thereby assists in determining which of the many possible paths that an emitter/receiver could have taken was actually taken (3), which in turn improves the accuracy of geolocation significantly. |
