Disclosed are a link connectivity checking method and apparatus. The method comprises: sending an Internet control messages protocol (ICMP) message to a destination device of a link, the ICMP message carrying an identifier used for identifying that the ICMP message is a message used for pinging the link connectivity; acquiring an ICMP response message corresponding to a media access control (MAC) address of the destination device; determining whether the ICMP response message carries the identifier carried in the ICMP message; and if the determining result is yes, determining that the link with the destination device is available. By means of the present invention, the problem in the prior art that the connectivity of a link from a network access device to a user equipment cannot be checked is solved, and accordingly, the link between the network access device and the user equipment can be checked. |
