PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device which is configured to allow changing a distance from a user to a generated virtual image and prevents generation of a large time lag when changing a position of the virtual image, further, without increasing in size, complexity, and cost of the device.SOLUTION: A virtual image display device generates a virtual image 8 of an image to be visually recognized by an occupant 7 of a vehicle by projecting the image output from a projector 4 onto a screen 5, and causing the image projected onto the screen 5 to be reflected onto a windscreen 6 of the vehicle 2 and visually recognized by the occupant 7 of the vehicle. The screen 5 is obliquely placed relative to a light path 22 of light from a light source 18 connecting the screen 5 and a concave mirror 14, and so, a distance from the occupant 7 to the generated virtual image 8 can be changed at will by shifting a position at which an image 26 is projected in a projection target area 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
