An objective of the present invention is to provides: a rubber composition for tires that is highly workable and is capable of improving crack resistance, ozone resistance, discoloration resistance, and the external appearance of tires in a well-balanced manner; and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition for tires. The rubber composition for tires comprises a rubber component, an age retarder and a polyether (A), with the total content of a butadiene rubber, natural rubber, and isoprene rubber being at least 80 mass% relative to 100 mass% of the rubber composition, the content of the age retarder being 0.3-7.0 mass parts relative to 100 mass parts of the rubber composition, and the average mass, relative to the polyether (A), of polyethylene oxide including at least 2 chains is at most 85% of the mass of the polyethylene oxide in the polyether (A). |
