The present invention provides a liquid crystal display (LCD) device with which display artifacts are minimized, by preventing degradation in the TFT characteristics due to the photoalignment process. This LCD device has a thin film transistor substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The thin film transistor substrate has thin film transistors of etching-stopper structure, an oriented film, and a pair of electrodes for applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer. The thin film transistors have a gate electrode, a gate-insulating film, a channel layer containing an oxide semiconductor, an etching-stopper layer, and a pair of source/drain electrodes, in that order. The oriented film has photofunctional groups, and the liquid crystal layer has negative dielectric anisotropy. |
