PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a negative electrode material for a metal-air secondary battery, which allows a metal-air secondary battery to exhibit adequate charge/discharge performances; a metal-air secondary battery including the negative electrode material as a metal electrode; and a method for manufacturing the negative electrode material for a metal-air secondary battery.SOLUTION: A negative electrode material for a metal-air secondary battery is a negative electrode material used for a metal-air secondary battery, which comprises: a current collector; and iron or iron oxide supported by the current collector. It is preferable that the current collector has electron conductivity and porosity which allows a liquid or solid electrolyte to touch the iron or iron oxide. It is more preferable that the current collector has (a) a mesh structure in which fibers having electron conductivity are regularly arrayed, (b) a nonwoven fabric structure in which fibers having electron conductivity are randomly arrayed, (c) a three dimensional network structure having independent holes or continuous holes; or (d) a structure composed of a combination of these structures.
