PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous surface treatment agent that has an excellent coatability and can form a coating layer having a uniform surface appearance.SOLUTION: An aqueous surface treatment agent is prepared by combining at least one kind aqueous film forming component (A) selected from the group consisting of a surfactant (a), a hydrophilic polymer (b) and a silicone compound (c), and a polyvalent metal ion (B). The polyvalent metal ion (B) may be a divalent metal ion. The proportion of the polyvalent metal ions (B) may be about 0.01 to 50 mmol relative to aqueous film-forming component (A) 1 g. The inventive aqueous surface treatment agent may be an anti-fogging surface treatment agent having a non-ionic surfactant as an essential component. Further, the inventive aqueous surface treatment agent may be a mold-releasing surface treatment agent having a silicone compound (c) as an essential component.SELECTED DRAWING: None
