<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection element that is excelling in poisoning resistance against organic silicone gas, shorten detection sensitivity recovery time of a gas sensor, and prevent crack or exfoliation on a coating layer. <P>SOLUTION: A gas detection element comprises a sensing electrode 2, a gas sensitive part 4 including a metal oxide semiconductor, and a heating unit 3 for heating the gas sensitive part 4.
