This optical fiber connection structure has: an optical fiber connector capable of gripping an optical fiber from either side in a diametrical direction; a receiving-side optical fiber arranged inside the optical fiber connector and provided with a hole that opens at the end surface of the connecting end; a refractive index matching material layer of solid form, formed on the end surface of the connecting end of the receiving-side optical fiber and arranged intruding into the hole; and an external optical fiber that, by abutting the end surface thereof and that of the receiving-side optical fiber through the refractive index matching material layer, abuts with and becomes connected to the receiving-side optical fiber. |
