The present invention relates to an apparatus to manufacture a billet, and a method thereof. The apparatus to manufacture the billet of the present invention comprises: a transfer part to transfer a cast-piece in a longitudinal direction; a pair of molds arranged back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the cast-piece in the transfer part; a press unit to form a front end part and a rear end part of the cast-piece in a desired shape by the molds; and a rolling mill which receives the cast-piece whose front end part and rear end part are formed by the press unit, and then rolls the cast-piece. The cast-piece having an inclined end part is manufactured in a step prior to rolling such that a non-uniform deformed part generated in the front end part and the rear end part after rolling is able to remarkably be reduced. As such, a yielding percentage of a product is able to be improved by reducing loss due to crop. |
