A transparent fluorescent visual display 8 comprising means to project and image, and a transparent screen containing a layer of transparent fluorescent pigment or pigments set within a frame that reflects a projected image onto the layer. Preferably a colour image is projected by an LCD 1 and from three light sources 3, 4, 5 corresponding to red, green and blue components of the image, that pass through a wide angle lens 6 onto the three walls 7 of the display. Each wall 7 of the display corresponds to the red, green, and blue components of the image, which are reflected by mirrors located on the walls 7 through the screen 5 and transparent fluorescent layer 5, rendering an image on the display. The transparent fluorescent layer contains dyes or pigments that fluoresce at particular frequencies. A colour display will contain red, green and blue dyes or pigments that fluoresce at their respective frequencies that correspond to the light frequency of the respective red, green and blue projected light. A mono display will use a single frequency of light for all three light sources. |
