A fire retardant glazing device comprising a bridging portion a first retaining portion 34 and a second retaining portion 36 coupled to the bridging portion to form a channel for a glazed pane 50 and the bridging portion (32 Fig 2) comprises at least one impeding element 38 preferably a hole or material, arranged to impede thermal conduction between the first and second sides of the bridging portion. Preferably intumescent material 46 is located between the bridge and the glazing pane 50. Third and fourth retaining portions 64 66 may be coupled to the back of the bridge element and may contain a second piece of intumescent material 70 76. A mullion (stile) or transom 80 is also claimed with a space for intumescent material 90. |
