PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coating composition which contains a titanium dioxide pigment and from which a coating film excellent in weather resistance is obtained, and to provide a coated article having a coating film excellent in weather resistance.SOLUTION: The method for producing a coating composition comprises: a crushing step of crushing aggregates of titanium dioxide particles which have a dense surface coating layer comprising at least one selected from silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and cerium oxide and have an average primary particle diameter of 5 μm or less, so that an average secondary particle diameter will be 0.01-5 μm; and a mixing/dispersing step of mixing/dispersing the crushed titanium dioxide particles in a coating resin. The coated article has a coating film formed of the coating composition obtained by the method. |
