PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect opening/closing of a lid provide with a recording head without limiting shape flexibility of a device itself, and usage flexibility of an interrupt port without increasing the cost of the device.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a body; a lid; a recording head provided in the lid; a platen roller provided in the body; a recording section that records in a recording medium by rotating the platen roller in such state the platen roller is pressured to the recording head by closing the lid with respect to the body while sandwiching the recording medium between the recording head and the platen roller; a motor that drives the rotation of the platen roller; an encoder that generates signals according to the rotation of the motor; a control section that controls the rotation speed of the motor based on the signals generated by the encoder; and a determination section that determines an opening/closing state of the lid by detecting the rotation of the platen roller based on the signals generated by the encoder. |
