The information processing apparatus includes an instruction history accumulator that accumulates a history of at least two different pieces of instruction information detected from a user and an instruction of the user in association with each other, an instruction information receiver that receives the instruction information, an instruction recognizer that recognizes the instruction of the user from the received instruction information by referring to the history of the instruction information, a reliability determiner that determines the reliability of the received instruction information by referring to the history of the instruction information, and an instruction information changer that changes the instruction information to be received to another instruction information by referring to the history of the instruction information when the reliability determiner determines that the reliability of the received instruction information has lowered.
