The present invention relates to a cooking appliance and a controlling method thereof. More specifically, the cooking appliance comprises: a cabinet forming an appearance; a cooking part arranged on the cooking part to perform cooking using a heat source; an input part arranged on the cabinet, and formed in a shape of a touch panel to which instructions to control operation of the cooking part are inputted; and a control part formed to operate the cooking part by receiving a signal inputted to the input part by a touch. In regards to this, the input part includes a first touch circuit board and a second touch circuit board, wherein the first touch circuit board and the second touch circuit board are formed to communicate with each other, and are electrically connected to the control part. In addition, in the case of detecting an abnormal signal transferred from the first touch circuit board to the second touch circuit board, the control part controls the cooking part to stop operation of the cooking part. According to the present invention, the operation of the cooking part is stopped if the input part is abnormal or suffers damage, thereby preventing a secondary damage such as fire. |
