An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for operating a communication profile and an electronic device supporting the same which can easily and conveniently acquire a communication profile of an electronic device by using a different electronic device. The electronic device comprises: a first communication module to form a communication channel with an external electronic device based on wired communication or short-range communication; a control module to use the external electronic device connected via the first communication module to acquire a communication profile required for operating a second communication module which supports a base station-based communication service; and a memory to store the acquired communication profile. In addition, other embodiments disclosed in the present specification can be realized.
