The present invention relates to an image information processing apparatus and a method supporting the protection of personal information and, more specifically, to an image information processing apparatus and a method supporting the protection of personal information, which process and provide, when an image needs to be provided externally from the image information processing apparatus in which information on an image captured by a monitoring camera is stored, a portion corresponding to personal information or lead the monitoring camera to be operated within a range in which personal information is not sneaked out according to predesignated rules when the monitoring camera is operated, thus effectively protecting the personal information. The image information processing apparatus and method process the masking of an object that requires the protection of personal information in image information and provide the processed object such that the personal information cannot be sneaked out through the image information, set rules so as to determine whether the violation of the laws according to the operational range of the monitoring camera has occurred to support that the monitoring camera can be operated within a range in which personal privacy is not violated, thus supporting the effective protection of the personal information. |
